exchange between Ron (Peabody) and Kim (Cornish) 10/30
THIS FOLLOWS FROM KIM'S CONCERNS, BELOW
Kim,
I think that the on-site visit by a CLEA team is a real avenue to pursue in this regard. At Peabody, e.g., we've got a very healthy paper trail showing that our department invested in a very serious process--and that we're responding to what the evaluators put forth. Any other outside team who was to step on campus to do an accreditation thing would necessarily be diverted by this paper trail!
Anyway, I wouldn't mind keeping the site-visit/evaluation/conversation thread to the fore. We've got a bit of precedent here. Depending on how you read it, Cornish, Peabody, and CCC each have been subjected to a serious CLEA-based review of some kind.

Absolutely. It's be great--maybe as a 'next step' if we could make a point of offering CLEA visits as part of the preparation for accreditation reviews.
